VMCAS COURSE SUBJECTS

VMCAS uses a standardized list of course subjects which cover the majority of classes you may be taking. VMCAS uses these subjects to then determine which Course Subject GPA Category your courses will factor into. If you cannot determine which VMCAS Subject to choose based on your course’s title, please default to the department the course is offered through. During the verification process, VMCAS will change any VMCAS Course Subjects which it deems have been incorrectly listed. Your application will not be undelivered for listing the incorrect VMCAS Course Subject.

The lists below has been created in conjunction with the AAVMC, which has determined which VMCAS Subjects factor into which Course Subject GPAs. Please use this list to understand how your VMCAS Course Subjects will factor into your Course Subject GPAs.
